Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Arthur C. Clarke
I’ve been experimenting with several AI-powered apps and have recently stumbled upon InVideo AI. To say that this AI powered workhorse simplified my process of creating explainer videos, would be a gross understatement. It really does feel magical. To test this magic I used the free version to create videos on two topics close to my heart: microlearning and how AI is transforming workplace learning.
Explaining Microlearning to Managers
For my first video, I started with a basic prompt:
“Create a video about Microlearning, in English. Explain what it is and how it can be used in workplace learning.”
As you can see you can add up to 25000 characters (`5000 word), in your prompts.
At this stage you can also select from a variety of workflow prompts.
I selected YouTube Explainer but didn’t fill it out as I wanted to see what it would do with minimal input.
After the prompt you can select your audience, the look and feel, and the target platform. I am assuming that the paid version offers more of a selection. It looks like the app uses the prompt to provide the choices.
I selected Managers as the target audience and LinkedIn as the target platform. Using the free version, the video came out pretty well, despite the stock video watermarks. I was given the option to download the video, with the watermarks or upgrade to paid for a watermark-free version. I was also able choose the privacy level (private, only other InVideo account holders, or public) and was provided with easy ways to share the video to the usual social media platforms or just copy the direct link.
After watching the initial version, I decided to make a few improvements. I spent about 10 minutes tweaking the script and adjusting three of the media prompts. I also added a prompt to include a bumper at the end of the video to prevent it from ending abruptly. The result was a more polished video, particularly given the minimal time invested. The learing curve was also minimal. The UI is pretty good although it could use some tool tips — where you can hover or click for a short explanation.
How AI is Revolutionizing Workplace Learning
For my second video, I focused on how AI is revolutionizing workplace learning. Again, I used a straightforward prompt: “Create a video in English explaining why AI is changing workplace learning.” I spent a bit more time on this one—about 30 minutes in total. I really liked the voice-over, perhaps because it sounds like of David Attenborough, whom I love.
I did encountered a challenge with the video’s ending. The app threw an error when I tried to add a two-second pause at the end with no narration, leading to an abrupt finish. After several unsuccessful attempts to fix it, I finally settled on adding a few words to make the abrupt stop feel less awkward.
Conclusion
Overall, InVideo has proven to be a magical tool for creating engaging explainer videos quickly and efficiently. Even with basic prompts and minimal editing time, the results have been impressive.
For anyone looking to create professional-quality videos without a steep learning curve, I highly recommend giving InVideo a try. This AI-powered app is a time saver for sure.
